    How often should you Clean and Change the Inner Cannula?

  • It is generally recommended that the Trach tube inner cannula be changed at least once every 8 hours. However, Please take the Physicians or Nurses Advise on how often to change the inner cannula because these regimens are patient-specific and differ from patient to patient.
  • Inner cannulas may be changed more frequently as indicated.
  • Only Sterile Normal Saline 0.9% or Sterile water should be used to clean the inner cannula, before use.
