Medical Irrigation generally refers to either Wound Irrigation or Bladder Irrigation.

During Wound Irrigation, the wound is gently washed using an irrigation syringe that allows a Steady flow of Solution, Either Sterile Water or Saline over the open wound surface. Wound Irrigation helps to remove debris from the wound bed and hydrates the wound for faster healing. Once the wound debris is washed away, it allows for Improved Visual Examination of the wound. MedOnTheGo.com carries Sterile Water and Saline Solutions for Wound Irrigation.

Bladder Irrigation: Bladder Irrigation is a process to wash out the insides of the Bladder with a Saline Solution or Acetic Acid Solution. Bladder Irrigation is essential for Patients who wear Foley Catheters or Indwelling Catheters which are Urinary Catheters that stay inside the body from 30 to up to 60 days or more. Flushing the Bladder through irrigation removes the mucus that may get accumulated in the bladder and promotes General Bladder Health.

Urinary Catheter Irrigation: Catheter Irrigation is a procedure to open up a Plugged Urinary Catheter. This is done by injecting 60mL to 120mL of Saline Solution through an Irrigation Syringe into the Catheter and then flushing it out into a Collection Container. Irrigating the catheter with Saline washes away mucus and blood clots that may get accumulated over time.  Catheter Irrigation clears out mucus plugs so that the Urine is able to drain out freely and not back up into the kidneys. Regular Irrigation is essential for Patients who wear Foley Catheters or Indwelling Catheters as they are called because they dwell inside the body for longer periods of time. We carry Catheter Irrigation Trays in various sizes and combinations.
